An invitation to cycling champion Lance Armstrong is under preparation. The seven -time Tour de France winner, a 36-year-old American, overcame an advanced testicular cancer, which less than 50% survive.

“We decided to invite Armstrong to the 2007 Tour de Korea scheduled to be held in mid-August. Confirmation such as reaching an MOU has yet to be made, but there would be no problems on our end,” said an official of Seoul Olympic Sports Promotion Foundation on December 8.

In 1996, the world-class athlete was nearly struck down by cancer, which spread to his brain. After 2 years of hard times, including several operations, he defeated cancer and won seven straight Tour de France events from 1999 to 2005. Professional athletes used to dominate the Tour de Korea, but two or three thousand amateur cyclists are expected to take part in the competition this year.
