President Roh Moo-hyun said on November 9, “The donations for party nominations and party expenses that were prominent in the May 31 regional elections are a problem that can be considered a modern version of corruption in government personnel administration, and an obstacle to having a clean and clear election.” He added, “To eradicate this, we will examine systematic measures that can be taken.”

While presiding over the 8th Anti-Corruption Association Council at Cheong Wa Dae, President Roh also said, “The political sector must become clean in order to provide a foundation for each sector of society to be clean,” according to vice presidential spokesperson Kim Sung-hwan.

President Roh added, “Anti-corruption policy should focus not only on the public sector, but on the private sector and local governments, as well as some administration institutes and public enterprises.”
