Slugger Lee Hints at Yomiuri Return

“I want to make the team the champion and personally give Manager Tatsunori Hara a celebration.”

Lee Seung-yeop (30, Yomiuri Giants) spoke of his intention to stay in the Japanese Professional Baseball League for the first time.

During an interview with a Yomiuri group newspaper, Sports Hochi, on October 13, Lee said, “Right now, I want to stay with Yomiuri. I want to go to the Major Leagues after I have achieved a victory.”

About his reason for staying, he explained, “After my last home game, I saw Junichi Dragons players celebrating by throwing Manager Ochiai Hiromitsu into the air. When I saw that, I decided I wanted Yomiuri to win too.”

About Manger Hara, Lee added, “It’s such an honor for a player to be asked to remain with the team by a manager. Yomiuri helped me regain my fame. I want to give something back to Manager Hara, who never stopped believing in me.”

Lee also strongly stated, “I’ve won the championship with both the Samsung Lions and Chiba Lotte Marines. I want to continue winning in every team I’ve been with. If I go to the Major Leagues now, it will look like I used Yomiuri. I don’t want that to happen.”
