In an exclusive interview with the Dong-A Ilbo on September 15 at the Samsung Electronics semiconductor plant in Giheung District, Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, Hwang said, On the basis of its diverse semiconductor portfolio, Samsung Electronics will be able grow over 20 percent annually to achieve 40 billion dollars in sales by 2010, twice the level of what it currently sells.
He went on to say, Intel, a company with central processing unit (CPU) technology for personal computers, has so far dominated the semiconductor market. In the future, however, Samsung Electronics will gradually take the center stage as memory-based fusion/convergence semiconductors lead the market.
He also stressed, Especially with fusion products where biotechnology and semiconductor technology are combined, Samsung Electronics will contribute to tremendously improving the quality of life of humanity.
