In preparation for the World Sand Sculpture Festival to be held in Brighton, U.K., which will run from June 1 to September 10, sand sculptors are putting the final touches on an image of a horse on May 31. This year’s topic is the rise and fall of Rome. About 60 sculptors who have gathered from around the world will display their pieces on a sandy beach the size of a soccer field. To prepare for this event, 10,000 tons of special sand was imported by ship from the Netherlands.
