The number of housing set to be built in the new satellite city of Pangyo, Seongnam-si of Gyeonggi Province is likely to drop by 1,000~2,000 from the original 29,700.
In the process to evaluate environmental influences on Pangyo, opinions were raised to reduce the development density. If done, the number of housing might decrease by 1,000~2,000, said Minister of Construction and Transportation Kang Dong-suk in his interview with reporters at the Gwacheon Government Complex on December 20.
Pangyos development density is currently set at 96 people per hectare and 150 percent of the floor area ratio. The Ministry of Environment is now calling for reducing those figures to 80 people and 135 percent respectively, and the two departments are in the last round of negotiations.
