Including the districts of Yeongi and Gongju of Chungnam province, the proposed site for new capital, some of the neighboring districts will be regulated for land transactions.
Three cities and six townships including Seo-myun in Yeongi-gun, Euidang-myun and Banpo-myun of Gongju city and Gangwae-myun, Gangnae-myun and Buyong-myun of Cheongwon-gun in Chungbuk province will be included as neighboring districts.
Residents of these areas are likely to suffer considerable inconveniences, like not being allowed to build new houses, for the maximum of ten years.
The Promotion Committee of New Administrative Capital Construction stated on July 14 that it would select the district for the new capital within the next month and announce the established place at the end of this year after an investigation of land details.
The district of Yeongi and Gongju is approximately 21,600,000 pyung in size and spreads out over two cities and four townships, including Nam-myun, Geumnam-myun and Dong-myun of Yeongi-gun and Jangi-gun of Gongju city.
The Promotion Committee will announce the neighboring districts (areas within a 4-5km radius from the center of the proposed site) when announcing the proposed site, and it has been known that six townships such as Gangwae-myun, Chungwon-gun will be included. Once a district is appointed as a neighboring district, only the minimum construction like a cattle shed will be allowed, and not only will a prohibition on constructing general buildings come into effect, but the area of buildings will be limited as well to within 100 square meters.
Meanwhile, the districts of Yeongi and Gongju, and the neighboring area have already been appointed as exception areas for land transactions and have to get permission from the provincial self-government association when transacting lands of more than 200 square meters.
