The prosecution has secured evidence that portions of former president Chun Doo-hwan’s suspected 10 billion won slush funds was distributed to his relatives. Accordingly, the money is highly likely to be Chun’s illegal political funds. The prosecution is considering summoning him next week.

“We confirmed that parts of the 10 billion won went to Chun’s relatives,” said the Central Investigation Agency of the Supreme Public Prosecutors office on Friday. “But, the exact amount of money has not been uncovered.”

The prosecution announced that 4.1 billion won went to Mr. Jang, a secretary during Chun’s term, four billion won went to Mr. Kim, and 2.5 billion won was transferred to Mr. Son. They took care of the money between 2001 and 2003.

The prosecution is advising Chun’s two aides, including Jang, who went to the U.S. last year, to return as Chun shifted the responsibility to them during the investigation.
