Myoungji University beat Hongik University to get its first win.

Myoungji University won a victory over Hongik University with a set score of 3-1 with the deliberate play of setter Kim Young-seok, center Ha Kyoung-min, and right attacker Kim Hyun-ki at the University Group B KT&G V Volleyball Tour 2004 in Mokpo Gymnasium on January 7.

The core of offense and defense is center Ha Kyoung-min at 201 cm, the tallest player in the university. Ha Kyoung-min, whose power and speed was pointed out as his weakness compared to his height, played an active part with blocking and quick attacks.

Winning the first set with 25-21, Myoungji University allowed a deuce game, without stopping Hongik University’s left attacker, Kwon Kwang-min in the second set, but finished the set with 29-27 at last thanks to an unyielding defense that did not miss the opponent’s mistakes. In the third set, Hongik University seized the chance to chase Myoungji University with a victory of 25-22 thanks to the play of Kwon Kwang-min, Cho Seong-hoon and Lee Yong-taek.

However, sophomore Kim Do-hyung took the side of Ha Kyoung-min for blocking and Kim Hyun-ki’s right spikes succeeded to win with a score of 25-20 to break away from Hongik’s chase in the fourth set.

Ha Kyoung-min scored 16 points including three blocks, and Kim Hyun-ki lead the victory with a team high 20 points.
