Study results report that US space shuttle Voyager 1 is the first spacecraft ever to reach the bordering area of the solar system and to go forward into the interstellar space outside of the solar system.
According to Reuter News Agency, the U.S. S.M. Krimigis doctoral team of Johns Hopkins University announced the report in the latest edition of Nature (November 6), a science magazine, and after analyzing the data from Voyager 1, they concluded that Voyager 1 passed the termination shock area, which is the bordering area of the solar system, on August 1. After passing this area, and then going through the heliopause and bow shock areas, it will have completely traveled the entire solar system.
According to the research team, the energy particles that Voyager 1 had sensed increased by 100 times, and the speed of the solar storm decreased while passing through the termination shock area, all expected happenings.
According to NASA, on November 5, Voyager 1 is currently navigating approximately 135 trillion kilometers from earth. This is 90 times the distance from the earth to the sun (AU1AU is about 1.4960 trillion kilometers). The opinions of each scientist differ, but it is known that the border of the solar system is approximately 85-120 AU from the sun.
Voyager 1 started exploring space as the ranging shuttle for Jupiter and Saturn in 1977, and it has obtained all kinds of information on the human race in 55 different languages to prepare for the encounter of external living beings.
It is estimated that Voyager 1 will perform its task until year 2020.
