‘This is as good as it gets.’

On June 30, Kyong-dong High School defeated Inchon High School in the 57th Golden Lion Flag National High School League Series (joint sponsored by Donga Daily Newspaper & Korea Baseball Association) with a 9th inning homerun and advanced to the quarterfinals. Pusan High School also defeated Kyong-ju High School with a 12 hit game and joined the quarterfinals.

At the end of the 9th inning, the score was 3-3 and it was Kyong-dong’s last offensive chance. On the mound was pitcher Ban Jae-ryung who led Inchon High to the semifinals in the Presidential Games. It appears as if the game was leading to overtime. Then in the batter’s box, Shin Seung-do made a 2nd base hit and with Kim Nam-sik`s 1st base grounder, just managed to reach 3rd base. The next batter Lee Kyung-min hit the first pitch and scored a 115m-distance homerun. For Kyong-dong High, this is the second time for them to reach the quarterfinals after the Mu-deung Games earlier this year.

Pusan High was losing by 0-2 but by the end of the 2nd inning, they began to catch up with Park Jung-tae`s homerun. In the 3rd inning with Lee Won-hee`s 3-point homerun, they managed to turn the tables around by 4-2. In the 6th inning, they added a point and in the 7th inning, they obtained three 4-balls to lead to a 4-point score.

In the game against Kyung-ju High, Pusan`s Jung Ui-yun scored two base hits and today he scored again with four base hits. In two games with his six base hits he managed to raise his batting average to 0.857.
