Adult Movies Must Spur Imagination

Bong Man-dae, a 33-year-old director from the adult movie industry, is set to make his Choongmuro debut with `Delicious Sex and Love`. The movie will be released nationwide on June 27.

Bong caught keen attention of moviegoers and critics even before the release, adding his nude picture to the movie pamphlet. “They often asked me during interviews why I decided to take off my clothes. It was not like I intended to. It just happened. Isn`t if fun that people are taking that much interest in the fact that the director posed nude?”

`Delicious Sex and Love` has a simple storyline. A young couple meet, have sex, live together and break up due to trivial misunderstanding at the end. That is all. It seems that the story is mere a tool for R-rated images just like adult movies.

“The story is simple but it makes sense. People usually fast forward to sex scenes when they watch adult videos. This movie has a story, however, so the audience will become a part of the story and experience the sexual fantasy themselves.”

He was unhappy about the way people talk about the movie – that is, how far it goes. He insists that the movie has love as well as delicious sex.

“With steamy sex scenes from the beginning, the audience will first take interest in the delicious sex part. As the movie goes on, they get bored with sex. Then, they begin to think about love.”

He is known for his artistic approach in the adult film industry. In such films as `the Salmon`, `Two Thousand Years` and `the Princess`, he created not only sensuous but also beautiful images. In fact, some even choose adult videos for his name.

“Do I take an artistic approach? Haha. I never thought about it. I just do not like too explicit movies. What is really sexual and sensuous is not showing them all. This makes people feel curious and use their imagination.”

He often performs sex scenes himself to coach actors. At the homepage of the movie, you will see his experienced acting in the `making film`.

“You can`t just say `do it yourself.` When I was working for an adult movie before, there was a scene in which a couple makes love on the snowfield. Actors were hesitating, feeling cold and ashamed. So I took off my clothes first.”

He was a theater actor. Born and growing up in Gawngju, he began to act on stage when he was a second grader in Gwangdeok High School. But he quit after some four years, feeling his looks were not good enough and his dialect was no good.

He worked as assistant director for such movies as `Return of Sonogong,` and entered the adult film industry in 1999 with `Tokyo Sexpia.`

He said that he would make only adult movies from now on. He wanted the Korean society to be more open and generous about sex. “There are not many directors making adult films and when you do, people see you as strange and eccentric. But I want to be closer to adult films while people try to keep distance. Doing things that others don`t is fun. You can try yourself.”
