Bush Can Attack Iraq Regardless of the Decision of the UN

The US Secretary of State Collin Powell said on the 8th, “The President George W. Bush might start the military attack against Iraq regardless of the decision of the UN.”

The Secretary Powell said during an interview with the Fox News, “The President Bush has all the authorities and options to defend the nation including a method that a unilateral action might be suitable.”

The speaking of the Secretary Powell, who stressed on diplomatic solution for the Iraqi problem, suggested a unilateral containment offensive against Iraq, and it made an observance possible that the confused strategy against Iraq inside the Bush Administration might be changed to strong measure.

The Vice President Dick Cheney said during an interview with the NBC, “It must not be doubted that the President Bush firmly react on the threat of Iraq, and he will do all the necessary actions,” and added that he expected a support for attacking Iraq from the Congress by next month at the latest.

In the meantime, the Times of the UK reported that day, “It seems for the President Bush to suggest a deadline of 4 ~ 6 weeks for accepting the arms inspectors to Iraq, and gives additional six months to destroy massive killing weapons by themselves,” and “this is the last chance for Iraq.”
