‘Woman power.’
In the higher civil service examination for foreign affairs for 2002, the rate of female successful candidates reached to 45.7%.
Out of the final successful candidates for the foreign affairs examination published by the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs (MOGAHA), there are 16 women.
The rate of successful woman candidates was 16.7% in 1998, 30% in 1999, 20% in 2000, 36.7% in 2001, and 45.7% in 2002. In terms of the increase of the successful woman candidates, the official of MOGAHA said “the language skill is very important part for this examination. So, woman candidates have more advantageous position over man in the language study.”
He also mentioned “Accordingly, each year, woman candidates will increase in number for the examination”.
