‘No Goal, One Draw and Two Defeats, Fail to reach the second ground’

The most striking event took place in the history of the World Cup. The defending World Cup champion, France was ruined without scoring a goal during the three tournaments.

French Team? It has maintained the first place as the world’s best soccer team since it won 1998 World Cup, 2000 UEFA European Championship and 2001 Confederation Cup.

But, after being outplayed by a dark horse Senegal in the opening game, France also ended the next two matches without good performance and finally, it collapsed.

There are two cases that defending World Cup champion couldn’t go to the final. One is Italy in 1950 Brazil World Cup and the other is Brazil in 1966 England World Cup.

In order for France to qualify for the last 16 of the World Cup, it needed to beat Denmark by more than two goals. So French team devoted all its energies with Zidane’s entrance to the game but it allowed one goal from Dennis Rommendahl in the 22nd minute of the first half and the second goal from Jon Dahl Tomasson on the 22nd minute of the second half.

With two wins and one draw, Demark ended on top of Group A and can go to the second round of the World Cup.

Senegal tied Uruguay at 3-3 in the same group’s tournament which was held in Soowon.

Senegal scored the first goal through Khalilou Fadiga on the 20th minute in the first half and it gained the second and the third goals through Pape Bouba Diop on the 26th and the 38th consecutively. But with starting the second half, Senegal lost three goals to Richard Morales, Diego Forlan, Alvaro Recoba to make the game 3-3.

However, Senegal becomes qualify for the last 16 of the World Cup at the first attempt.
