Korea-China, Discusses Sending NKD to Korea

Korean embassy in China expressed on 26th that it is discussing with China as North Korean Defectors, Mr. Choi (40), Mr.Kim (35), Ms. Park (30), who entered Korean Consulate General in Beijing on 23rd, 24th, requested to be sent to South Korea.

Korean embassy notified this to China when they came to Consulate General, and China investigated their status and motive of asylum.

Embassy concerned said, “ we are protecting them and have arranged beds in Consulate General” and “we can`t assertively say when they will leave China, as discussions with China is going on”.

He added, “ especially, China is very careful on this matter, as their entry in Korean Consulate General has already been reported to the press” and “ however, we requested best co-operation from China so that they can go to South Korea”.

NKD, Mr. Choi, entered consulate General on 23rd, 10:50 A.M.

Mr. Choi called up the Consul before entering Consulate General.

And on 24th, 16:00, NKD Mr. Kim and Mr. Park entered Consulate General and requested asylum.

Embassy stated that both of them are not couples but decided to go to Korea together after meeting in China, few months ago.

They were general citizens and didn`t have any specific designation in North Korea.
