Kim Bong-Ho to Be Called in Early Next Week

Cha Jeong-Il’s Special Prosecution team, which is investigating the `Lee Yong-Ho Gate` decided to summon Kim Sung-Hwan, an aide of President Kim Dae-Jung’s second son Kim Hong-Up, who received the request to discontinue the investigation from former Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation managing director, Lee Hyung-Taek.

SP is to investigate against Kim whether he told former Prosecution General Shin Seung-Nam and Kim Hong-Up after Lee Hyung-Taek’s request that Lee Yong-Ho was keeping the bankbook, which contained details that former general’s brother Shin Seung-Hwan received money from Lee Yong-Ho.

SP revealed that former Democratic Assemblyman Kim Bong-Ho, unlike his claim, did not issue a donation receipt of the money, which was 50 million won that Lee Yong-Ho gave just before the 2000 presidential election on April 13, and that Kim actually received the money from Lee’s friend, Park (44).

SP also discovered that it was not before the election but after the election that Kim cashed the checks and is currently tracking the account from which the cash was withdrawn.

SP is to summon Kim early next week to investigate the money-route, and confirm criminal punishment if any favor was returned, or request prosecution for investigation if nothing is found.

In relation to this, Kim’s aide said, "Lee Yong-Ho’s money was processed into a donation receipt, but it was discarded after losing the election."

Meanwhile, SP is to arrest and indict Lee Hyung-Taek, who requested National Intelligence Service and Coast Guards to support in the process of treasure excavation, and was promised for 15 Per Cent of profits, on the 18th.
