The Taejon Citizen Football organization has armed itself with the offensive soccer since Lee Tae-Ho, who had played as the best goal-getter in 80s, begun to coach.

The Taejon Citizen had failed to advance to the semi-finals with one point behind the Chonbuk Hyundai Motors in the Adidas Cup, but poured an incredible firepower into the opponent at the first game of the regular season.

The Taejon won yesterday in the opening game of the 2001 POSCO K-League, defeating the Chonbuk by 4-1 at the Hanbat Stadium.

The Taejon, having Lee Kwan-Woo recovered from injury, led the game with the fabulous ability and the new attacker Tak Jun-Suk recorded one goal and two assists. The Taejon surprisingly earned the great victory over the Chonbuk with star players like Kim Do-Hoon, Park Sung-Bae, and Yang Hyun-Jung.

The Taejon Citizen took the lead by Tak Jun-Suk`s goal assisted by Lee Kwan-Woo in 24th minute in the first half, and four minutes later made the game 2-0 with Lee Kwan-Woo`s goal assisted by Tak Jun-Suk. In the 42nd minute of the first half, `sharp` Kim Eun-Jung made an additional goal with the Tak`s assist, and the game was decided by Kim`s penalty goal. The Chonbuk barely missed the shut out with Kim Do-Hoon`s penalty goal just before the end of the game.

The Anyang LG Cheetahs won over the Suwon Samsung, 1-0, in front of 20,000 home fans, overcoming the inferiority in the many of the players.

The defending champion Anyang and the Samsung, who is trying to return to the champion, quarreled with each other furiously in order to start the regular season with the win, in spite of the absence of the star players due to the injury and the accumulated warnings. The Anyang enjoyed the joy of the victory with the Czech Koubek`s decision goal.

Koubek of the Anyang made a heading goal in right front of the goal gate with a ball lobbed from the left side of the penalty area by Jung Kwang-Min who showed the fighting spirit by tonsuring. The Suwon made 17 shots (6 for Anyang) but failed to equalize the game.

In Song Nam, the Ilwha Chunma defeated 2-1 Chunnam Dragons whose Head Coach Lee Hoe-Taik directed the game despite his mourning for the death of his mother. In Pohang, the Pusan Icons won over the Pohan Steelers with a `tall goal-getter`, Woo Sung-Yong`s great performance who made two goals.
