Prince Andrew visits Seoul Thursday

Prince Andrew, second son of Queen Elizabeth II, will arrive in Korea via Kimhae International Airport in Pusan, Thursday, to attend the ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of the participation in the Korean War by the British and Commonwealth forces.

Andrew will take part in the ceremony to be held at the United Nations Cemetery in Pusan Friday and another event to commemorate the 50th anniversary at the monument for the British participation in the war at Solma-ri, Choksong-myon, Paju City, Kyonggi Province on Apr. 22. The ceremony will be also attended by Defense Minister Kim Dong-Shin, government and military leaders, U.N. Command officials and foreign diplomats in Korea. The British prince will also visit the World Cup Stadium now under construction in Sangam-dong, western Seoul, and will leave here on Apr. 23.

Meanwhile, Korean War veterans from the U.N. forces will come to Korea to participate in the ceremony. There are 110 from Britain, 70 from Canada, 100 from Australia and 89 from New Zealand.
