Samsung Life wins women`s basketball championship

Samsung women`s basketball team stopped Hanvit Bank 65-63 to win the best-of-five winter league championship series three games to one Sunday at Seoul`s Changchung Gym.

Samsung`s championship this year was its fourth in the six-year history of the women`s pro basketball league.

In game three on Saturday, Samsung routed Hanvit 98-67 on the strength of 12 three-pointers but had to come from behind to clinch its final victory in game four.

Byun Yon-Ha of Samsung, nicknamed "rabbit," netted a game high 30 points with eight three-pointers, capping a year in which she was named league MVP.

Byun, 180cm, began as center in her middle school days, but converted to guard while a student at Dongju Girls’ Commercial High School.
