The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) plans to file suit with the International Labor Organization (ILO) alleging that the government would infringe on its rights if a revised bill of a law concerning the 5-year postponement of the allowance of the plural labor union has been passed at the national labor union representatives¡¯ meeting Tuesday.
Asserting that the Friday agreement of the Tripartite labor-management-government committee on the postponement of the allowance of the plural labor union has violated the principle, KCTU said in a statement that it would stage a struggle to prevent the legislation of the agreed contents by employing all possible means.
As for the bill concerning the ban on the wage payment to full-time workers at labor unions, KCTU has decided to demand a deletion, not a postponement. KCTU plans to stage campaigns related to the plural labor union in 14 major cities simultaneously this week and hold gatherings calling for the dismantling of the Tripartite labor-management-government committee. Irregular workers, who have faced difficulties in establishing an independent labor union due to the postponement of the allowance of the plural labor union, have also decided to engage in the struggle to oppose the revision of the law.
