The Foreign Affairs-Trade Ministry and Yonsei University have signed an agreement under which veteran diplomats will teach students about their diplomatic field experiences and knowledge starting in March, it was announced Monday.

In line with the program, dubbed as the distinguished professors in diplomacy, Foreign Affairs-Trade Minister Lee Joung-Binn and Yonsei University president Kim Woo-Sik signed the agreement paving the way for the seasoned diplomats to teach at the university.

The ministry has decided to appoint Ambassador Kwon Young-Min as the first special diplomatic professor. He served as ambassador to Norway and Denmark and now is a research fellow at the Institute for Foreign Affairs and National Security.

Under the program, the ministry will select one of its veteran diplomatic officials and appoint him as the special-commissioned professor to teach at the International Affairs School of Yonsei University for one year. The program is thus aimed at promoting government-academic cooperation with the participation of the distinguished diplomats.
