Wholesale fisheries markets at Garak and Noryang-jin in Seoul on August 22 stopped the auction of Chinese frozen crabs, after finding lead in the crabs.
An official at the Garak-dong mart said that they stopped auction of the crabs after discovering that 600-kg of frozen crab imported from China were found to contain lead Monday.
The Noryang-jin mart also stopped sales.
However, one crab wholesaler noted that as frozen crab imported from China can not be returned, there are Chinese frozen crabs excluding lead-contaminated ones being sold to the public.
