The U.S. Trade Representative said on July 2 that the World Trade Organization supported the United States¡¯ position that claims that the Korean government discriminates against foreign beef through its regulatory distribution policy against imported beef and subsidies to its domestic dairy industry.
Charlene Barshefsky, ambassador of the U.S. Trade Representative, said that the WTO`s dispute settlement committee had concluded that the subsidy provided by the Korean government to stock farmers exceeds the limit set by the WTO.
