Race for Seoul Mayor

Campaigns have begun to heat up with candidates registering to run in the June 2 local elections Thursday. Incumbent Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon of the ruling Grand National Party (middle), Ji Sang-wook of the minor conservative Liberty Forward Party (right), and Roh Hoe-chan of the New Progressive Party pledge fair campaigns after registering as candidates for mayor at the Seoul Metropolitan Election Commission in the city`s downtown Jongno district. Former Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook, the candidate of the main opposition Democratic Party, will register Friday after negotiating with the Democratic Labor Party’s standardbearer Lee Sang-gyu over the idea of fielding a unified candidate.
