Ted Rose, who fought in the Korean War as a 19-year-old, is now a 78-year-old man who cannot read without glasses. He was captured by Chinese troops just three days after being deployed to the front and spent 28 months as a POW, twice as long as his military duty.

Over the past 60 years, Rose has kept a note he wrote while a POW. “I was worried so I just wrote my colleagues’ names and lyrics,” he said. “Chinese soldiers tore off the middle part of the note to see what I`d written.”
