Marriage Promise for Sex

The Constitutional Court yesterday declared unconstitutional a law banning men from making a false promise of marriage to have sex with a woman.

A man who had been convicted for violation of the law petitioned the court to strike the law down.

The ruling said the law was against the government`s constitutional duty of creating a society of gender equality and denied women the right to sexual self-determination under the pretext of protecting them.
