Angry Parisians

Citizens in Paris display anger at an Internet company that promised to distribute cash in a publicity stunt Saturday. The online marketing company Mailorama planned to throw 5,000 envelopes of cash containing a combined 40,000 euro (59,500 U.S. dollars) to passers-by, but canceled the plan for security reasons. The cancellation prompted about 5,000 people gathered near the Eiffel Tower to go on a rampage by throwing rocks at police and hitting passers-by.
