The youngest brother of self-confessed serial killer Kang Ho-sun said yesterday that Kang was introverted and quiet, with his family noticing no signs of criminal behavior.

The younger brother told The Dong-A Ilbo over the phone, “Since (Ho-sun) was a child, he`s been a troublemaker. He stole a cow while on leave from military service. Since then, my family had endured a lot of pain as neighbors pointed their fingers at us.”

“He was so strict that he used to beat or punish me when I didn`t clean up my room or study hard.”

On his older brother`s fourth wife, the younger Kang said, “When his beloved wife died, he took it incredibly hard. When I first heard the news (of his serial murders), I thought he might`ve done it due to the pain from his wife’s death.”

“I last saw him at an anniversary service for my grandmother’s death in November last year, but we barely talked to each other. He said nothing special.”

The younger Kang added, “Yesterday, I went to work after not being able to go for a while. As his brother, I feel guilty. I deeply extend my heartfelt apology to the bereaved families.”
