Olympic Torch Relay in Tibet

Ethnic Han Chinese and Tibetan torch bearers finish their run Saturday in Lhasa, Tibet, handing over the torch to the Beijing Olympics officials on a stage specially built in front of Potala Palace. The Olympic torch set out on the relay at Norbulingka, the Dalai Lama`s former summer palace, arrived at Potala Palace after being carried by 156 bearers over the distance of 11 kilometers. The Chinese government was widely criticized for positioning a large number of security guards for the torch relay in Lhasa and restricting foreign media.
