Struggle to Counter Bird Flu

Posted May. 10, 2008 03:01,

The government and the ruling Grand National Party on Friday held an emergency meeting at the National Assembly to devise countermeasures to the bird flu outbreak. GNP floor leader Ahn Sang-soo asked the government to identify the cause and stem the spread of the highly pathogenic disease as soon as possible. To this, the government suggested a set of measures including stepping up decontamination efforts in traditional open-air markets, early distribution of compensation money for culled poultry, delay of loan payment and interest rate cuts.
