Investment guru and multi-billionaire Warren Buffet says reading newspapers from childhood leads to a better understanding of the world.

The chairman of Berkshire Hathaway emphasized the importance of reading newspapers at the company’s annual shareholder meeting Saturday.

Nicknamed “the oracle of Omaha," Buffett held a conversation with stockholders that was organized as part of the stockholders meeting in Omaha, Nebraska, with some 31,000 attending.

During the conversation, a seventh-grader from Philadelphia asked what he should read since school does not teach everything.

In response, Buffett said reading daily newspapers is an effective way to understand what is going on around the world.

He added that readers will begin to have their own area of interest at a certain point, and that the more you know, the more you want to learn.
