As the Turkish parliament abolished the regulation that has prohibited Muslim women from wearing the traditional headscarf, or hijab, on campus, tens of thousands of protesters are waging demonstrations in the capital city of Ankara on Feb. 9. The constitutional amendment awaits President Abdullah Gul’s authorization. Few expect the pro-Muslim president to veto the amendment.
