Amid the controversy and finger-pointing in the wake of the by-election loss of the Grand National Party, the party’s leading presidential candidate former Seoul City Mayor Lee Myong-bak attended the 75th anniversary of the death of Yoon Bong-gil, an independence activist during Japanese colonial rule over Korea, held in Yesan, South Chungcheong Province on April 29 before helping someone sell snacks in a nearby traditional farmers’ market (left). The party’s former chairwoman Park Geun-hae, another leading presidential hopeful, is heading to a gate in Gimpo Airport. She was on her way to give a special lecture at a forum held in Ulsan.
