Putin Visits Saudi Arabia

On February 11, Russian president Vladimir Putin (right), the first Russian head of state to visit Saudi Arabia, is inspecting an honor guard together with Saudi Arabia King Abdullah (left) at Riyadh airport. During Boris Yeltsin’s presidency, Russia’s influence in the Middle East weakened, but ever since President Putin took power, Russia has been trying to regain influence in the region through its political and economical stability.
