A “National Action Group” comprised of organizations of veterans rallied on October 13 at 2:00 p.m. in front of Seoul City Hall’s square to condemn the nuclear test by North Korea and to call for the resignation of the current administration with the presence of about 5,000 people.

Seo Jeong-gab, director of the National Action Group, said, “The current administration, in terms of policy, administration and material, helped North Korea to go nuclear armament. Projects such as the Gaesong Industrial Complex and the Mt. Geumgang tour should be stopped.”

At the beginning of the rally, some people burnt photos showing Kim Jong Il and former president Kim Dae-jung holding hands.

Jeon Yeo-ok of the Grand National Party (GNP) said, “Even on a day when North Korea conducted the nuclear test, the administration remained silent. The engagement policy through giving assistance to North Korea failed.”

The Democracy Network against North Korean Gulag attached 30,000 printed materials condemning North Korea to two advertising balloons and flew them in the sky.

At the rally, there was a 10 million signature-collecting movement to call for the resignation of the Roh Moo-hyun administration.

Participants finished the rally at 4:30 p.m. and marched to Tapgol Park. They held a candlelight rally to condemn the nuclear test of North Korea in Cheonggye Square at 7:30 p.m.
