Koryo Daily Editor Dies in Kazakhstan

Yang Won-sik, the former editor in chief who was in charge of the Korean edition of Kazakhstan Koryo Daily, the oldest newspaper for Koreans in Kazakhstan, died on May 9 in a street attack. He was 74.

According to the Korean embassy to Kazakhstan, Yang was hit on his head by a hooded suspicious man on his way home in downtown in Almaty after exercising on the morning of May 5. He was sent to a hospital, but passed away there.
