Secretary General Annan to Visit Korea

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and his wife are officially visiting Korea from May 14-16 with the government invitation.

The secretary general will have a separate luncheon with both President Roh and Speaker of the National Assembly Kim Won-ki and is expected to hold a joint press conference with Minister Ban Ki-moon of Foreign Affairs and Trade following a meeting on May 15 with the same minister.

Mr. Annan’s last visit was eight years ago on October 1998, and this visit is especially more significant as it is taking place after the announcement by Minister Ban to run for the office of UN Secretary General.
