Lawmaker Tabbed for Seoul Mayoral Run

Millennium Democratic Party (MDP) Chairman Hahn Hwa-kap officially asked former lawmaker Park Joo-sun to run for Seoul mayor yesterday, according to Park.

Park confirmed the offer through a telephone interview with a Dong-A Ilbo reporter yesterday, saying, “I got an offer, but I am not the kind of person who just aspires to my own high honors. I will make my position clear by March 31.”

If he runs, he may compete against former Justice Minister Kang Keum-sil, who is a possible ruling Uri Party candidate for Seoul mayor. “Then-Justice Minister Kang Keum-sil was justice minister when I was indicted by prosecutors,” Park said.
