Mars Canyon

The Martian “Valles Marineris” (Valley of the Sea), the largest canyon in the solar system, was unveiled in a photo produced by NASA on March 13. The photo shows the canyon has a length of 4,000km and a depth of five to 10km. Launched on April 2001 and commencing operations on February 2002, the Mars orbiter Mars Odyssey has sent hundreds of photos. On March 13, Google began services based on the photos released by NASA in which the Martian surface can be observed with the click of a mouse.
