Cuban President Fidel Castro (right) and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez attended the first graduation of the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana, Cubas capital city, on August 20. The two leaders are smiling as they are wearing the medal the graduates gave to them. The medal is a symbol of the solidarity between the two countries. Though the medal has two separate chains, the medal consists of two parts that are practically a pair. The 1,500 graduates came from 16 Latin American nations and had been on the Cuban governments full scholarship.
