In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule, video reunion of families separated by the Korean War was held for the first time ever in 12 places in seven cities, including Seoul, Gwangju, and Busan. In the event, Kim Mae-nyeo in South Korea met her two daughters, Hwang Bo-pae and Hwang Hak-sil, whom she left in the North in 1948. Suffering from a stroke, however, she failed to recognize her daughters.
