It seems that the rainy season this year will start on June 26 and go through until the end of July.

In addition, after the rainy season finishes, sultry weather will come around.

On June 26, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) announced, “This year, the rainy season has started two to three days later than the previous ones as the North Pacific anticyclone has expanded. During this period, precipitation will be similar to that of previous years, but depending on the region, some areas will have more rain.”

The KMA forecasted that with the start of the rainy season, the sweltering heat waves will weaken, but until the beginning of July, rainy days will prevail, which will sustain the humid weather. It’s anticipated that around mid-July, some areas will have a slightly languished seasonal rain front, and the country will gradually get out of the rainy season starting late in July.

The KMA also forecasted that after the rainy season is over, some regions will have far more rain than other areas, and that heat waves will prevail in August.

Meanwhile, the KMA predicted that under the influence of a depression that developed from a seasonal rain front, it rained in the southwest part of the country on the afternoon of July 26, and that it will become clear up in the late afternoon after heavy rains in the central part of the country, including Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon Province, and the five islands on the West Sea starting at dawn on June 27.
