Bush Announces Aid Plan for Africa

U.S. President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair announced their “aspiring African Aid Plan” after their summit at the White House on June 7. According to the plan, they will present a proposal to eliminate 100 percent of debt for Africa at the G8 meeting, which will be held in Scotland next month. Also, Bush confirmed a White House announcement that the United States would offer another $674 million for humanitarian aid in Africa. The U.S. administration has already allotted $1.4 billion to Africa this year.
