Thousands of Bolivians protested against the government in the capital city of La Paz on June 6. They called for securing “energy sovereignty” through nationalization of the natural gas industry. Over 80,000 people took to the streets across the country. President Carlos Mesa said that he would resign on state-owned TV channel amid growing concerns that protestors might march into the presidential palace after three weeks of demonstration.
