On April 14, insurgent groups waged several terrorist attacks, one after another, throughout Iraq. On that day, two car bombs successively exploded near the Interior Ministry building in Baghdad, leaving at least 11 civilians dead and 20 wounded. Another 13 were killed or wounded in terrorist attacks in north Kirkuke and south Tikrit. The bombing took place after U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick made “surprise visits” to Baghdad on April 12 and 13, respectively.
