South and North Korean 6-15 Commission: “We Will Not Tolerate Japan’s Dokdo Claim”

The South and North overseas joint event preparation commission for the 6-15 commonness declaration held a conference at Mount Geumgang Hotel in North Korea on Saturday and adopted a special determination on the issues concerning Japan’s claim of the Dokdo islets and their distortion of history.

On the resolution, the preparation commission emphasized that “we should not tolerate Japan’s assertion that Dokdo is Japanese territory since it is an aggressive intrusion into our territorial sovereignty. Dokdo has been our territory for thousands of years, and there is no reason to have another talk, considering the history or international law.”

Also, the preparation commission made a determination to jointly deter any movement of invasion by Japan and to actively engage to protect the nation’s sovereignty.

Furthermore, the preparation commission decided that Pyongyang will hold a National Celebration of Unification on June 15 and Seoul will hold a National Unification Tournament on August 15, and to hold a National Baekdu-Halla March for Unification for the fifth anniversary of the June 15 Joint Declaration.
