Corregidor Island, 40km away from the Philippines capital Manila, was the place for Douglas MacArthur to raise the Stars and Stripes for the first time after the general landed on the Philippines mainland during the World War 2. A big ceremony celebrating the 60th anniversary of the day was held at Corregidor Island. The President of the Philippines, Gloria Arroyo is cherishing the memory of the sacrificed American soldiers.
