Applauding Women vs. Infuriated Confucians

Concerned groups having witnessed the ruling of the Constitutional Court that the “hojuje (household register system)”, or the family registry system, is unconstitutional showed mixed reactions. In the afternoon of February 3 in front of the court in Jae-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, while the members of People’s Coalition for the Abolishment of the Household Register System (to the left) applauded the court’s decision, the Confucius Group of Sung Gyun Gwan (to the right) announced a declaration criticizing the ruling.
