The 20th Anniversary of the Disaster in Bophal, India, the 10th Anniversary of the Outbreak of Chechen War

A candle gathering (pictured left) was held on December 2 to remember the tragic disaster in Bhopal, India, which was recorded as the worst industrial accident in world history. Forty tons of methyl iso-cyanate gas leakage at the Union Carbide insecticide plant in Bhopal, India caused more than 3,500 deaths and 500,000 injuries. Anxiety about the security situation is continuous in Grozny, Chechen, where the Russian army is patrolling with armored vehicles. This coming December 11 is the 10th anniversary of war outbreak.
